The Voices of Burnaby Seniors will be holding its first Annual General Meeting (AGM) on Tuesday November 30 at at 1:00pm over Zoom. All VOBSS members will be emailed the notice of AGM, the Zoom link, as well as documents for the AGM.

Following the AGM, our guest speaker, Marina Ma will be talking on Inspiration.

We had a very successful year with projects like Digital Literacy, Tai Chi and Watercolor Painting as well as some zoom presentations.

We look forward to seeing you on November 30!

A practical guide for senior drivers

Are you nearing 80? Wondering about driver assessment? You should attend our virtual workshop.

This practical guide for senior drivers will help you learn more about driver assessment. It will be of particular interest to drivers who are nearing the age of 80. However, drivers of any age are welcome to participate and the workshop will be useful for anybody.

The workshop is a joint presentation of the Council of Senior Citizens’ Organizations of B.C. (COSCO) and the Insurance Corporation of British Columbia (ICBC). Participants will learn about the ICBC and Road Safety B.C. assessment which determines whether they can continue to drive.

VOBSS Membership 2021

While most of the activities conducted by VOBSS are open to everyone, we encourage you to become a member of VOBSS. Membership entitles you to the right to vote at meetings, eligibility to hold a Board or Committee position, receive email, newsletters and information bulletins.

VOBSS members are asked to renew their membership for 2021.

This is a beginners exercise course designed for seniors to benefit physical and mental health.

Advocacy Work in the Era of COVID-19

VOBSS has been busy doing advocacy work during COVID 19 with the seniors not only for Burnaby but also for all of this great nation. This include:

  • Incorporating Long Term Care facilities into Canada Health Act

  • Income tax, the Guaranteed Income Supplement, and Vulnerable Seniors

From September 2018 to June 2019 VOBSS received New Horizons Seniors Grants and presented workshops and projects on various topics related to seniors.
