We have been having a cool spring but it may not be this way throughout the whole summer. If we have another heat event, let's be ready for it.

VOBSS is having an in-person workshop with an expert from Burnaby Emergency Management to tell us what action Burnaby will take to help us get through the next extreme heat event.

We also have an Environmental Health Officer from Fraser Health to tell us how we can take better care of ourselves during periods of extreme heat.

Chair Yoga for Seniors

WHEN: Starting April 26, Tuesdays 10:00-11:30am (20 weeks)
WHERE: In the comfort of your own home using ZOOM
COST: Free (registration required)

Chair yoga is a gentle form of Yoga suitable for seniors and those with mobility or balance issues. This mindful exercise has many benefits:

  • Increased Flexibility

  • Improved Strength

  • Improved Self-Awareness

  • Reduced Stress

  • Better Sleep

  • Improved Pain-Management

Advocacy Work in the Era of COVID-19

VOBSS has been busy doing advocacy work during COVID 19 with the seniors not only for Burnaby but also for all of this great nation. This include:

  • Incorporating Long Term Care facilities into Canada Health Act

  • Income tax, the Guaranteed Income Supplement, and Vulnerable Seniors
